UPDATES and NEWS - Fair Trade Conference - Louisville, KY 2017

A team of Bridges of Hope volunteers attended the Fair Trade Federation
Conference in Louisville, KY,  held at the Seelbach Hotel, March 29-31.

They were privileged to meet other Fair Trade retailers, wholesalers and artisans, attend a variety of informational/educational workshops, and (the most fun of all) attend the EXPO to meet old and new vendors offering new items for the BOH store.
Team members includedVirginia Alldredge, Nancy Case,
Rosa Lee Deig and Donna Juncker.

♦   Donna Juncker was so inspired by one of the informative sessions that
she attended, she got busy rearranging the store as soon as she arrived
back in Mt. Vernon. Everyone needs to visit the store and see what she
has  done so far.  And, she has just gotten started!  Also, new to the
store will soon be items purchased at the Fair Trade Expo including
jewelry, bags, whimsical baby items and new tagua nut items from
     Ecuador.

♦    The Trustees have agreed to extend Wi-Fi into Wesley Hall. This will
enable BOH to upgrade a point-of-sale program sometime in the future.

♦    On a trail basis through April and May, Thursdays: 5:00pm -7:00pm
have been added to the shopping hours at BOH. Teresa Rynkiewich
has agreed to organize the volunteers needed to assist with these
      additional hours.

♦    Teresa Rynkiewich has also taken on the task of leading the activities
to organize Bridges of Hope’s International Bazaar to be held this
year on Saturday, November 4th.   Like always, many hands are
needed to host this always very successful event.

♦    Donna Juncker has volunteered to begin maintaining BOH’s Face Book
     presence on the web.

♦    Nancy Case and Rosa Lee Deig announced at the March BOH Board
meeting that they plan to retire from their leadership roles at the
conclusion of the scheduled Christmas events in December 2017.
They will stay and assist with the annual inventory held in January
      while the store is closed.
