Rev. Christopher Millay (B.S. The University of Findlay; M.Div. Duke University) was appointed as the Lead Pastor of First UMC in 2015.
Originally from Evansville, Indiana, he lives in Mount Vernon with his wife, Joy, and their three children.
Aside from leading worship on Sunday mornings, Rev. Millay is a self-published author. He volunteers with middle and high school students each year for the Mount Vernon Young Writers Program, which he has helped lead since 2016.
He also drives the school bus for Thrive Afterschool, Inc., which is an after school program housed at First UMC. He plays acoustic guitar with the First UMC Praise Team, and he organizes the congregation's community garden to provide neighbors and friends with fresh produce.
Commissioned as a Probationary Elder of the former South Indiana Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church in 2003 and ordained as an Elder in Full Connection with the conference in 2006, Rev. Millay has served local churches across Indiana and North Carolina since 1999.
